about

Short days, cold weather, and snow-covered streets are a staple of Utah winters. Having grown up on the Wasatch front, I'm still not used to the uniquely monotonous depression that settles in sometime in December. Imagine if I lived in Alaska...

This song is about what that feels like, and my efforts to ward off the melancholy with song, art, and passion. Music has gotten me through every other winter so far, and it continues to do so to this day. Making this track with Ryan was a blessing during the especially snowy and stormy winter of 2022-2023.

It's a reminder to keep those you love close, to get out of the house and into the cold, despite and in defiance of the drudging seasonal depression.

lyrics

I keep staring at the ceiling
Living with this feeling
Wishing there was no such thing as growing up
I need more coffee in my cup

I hope one day I remember
How it felt to be
So alive in December
But now it's hell to
Say goodbye to sun for a season
I can't help but
Keep thinking of a reason

I get tired when the snow falls
Trapped inside of four walls
Wishing there was no such thing as shutting out
The world

I hope one day I remember
How it felt to be
So alive in December
But now it's hell to
Say goodbye to sun for a season
I can't help but
Keep thinking of a reason

I hope one day I remember
How it felt to be
So alive in December
But now it's hell to
Say goodbye to sun for a season
I can't help but
Keep thinking of a reason
